HONOLULU—Two losses later, the Iolani Raiders have lost not a single believer.
Iolani, which nearly upset national powerhouse Montrose Christian and fell to Tennessee titan Fairley (Memphis) in the Iolani Prep Classic, garnered all 14 first-place votes in today’s HondaReport.com Boys’ Basketball Top Ten poll.
Iolani has a safe distance from Punahou, which edged Kamehameha to take the No. 2 spot. Punahou amassed 107 voter points and Kamehameha tallied 106. The Warriors traded places with Punahou despite a 50-46 win over the Buffanblu nearly two weeks ago.
Kalaheo, which pushed Florida’s No. 1-ranked team, Dr. Phillips, into double overtime before losing 64-61, remained at No. 4. Kalaheo’s near-upset was somewhat neutralized by a 60-48 loss to Punahou on the final day of the Iolani Prep Classic.
Mililani, which has a win over Kamehameha in preseason, zoomed from 15th to No. 5. Rounding out the HRC Top Ten are Leilehua, Kaimuki, Saint Louis, Maui and Kea’au.
