HONOLULU—If you are any team but Kamehameha-O’ahu, the benefits of Leilehua’s tough-as-nails week are evident.

And if you are Nanakuli or Radford, it’s happy time in the HondaReport.com Boys’ Basketball Top Ten.

Nanakuli, off to a 4-0 start in the West Division of the O’ahu Interscholastic Association, vaulted eight spots and landed at No. 9 in today’s release. The Golden Hawks topped Waipahu 65-35 and Wai’anae 75-41 Friday. Nanakuli is 13-5 overall.

Radford is on a roll after posting wins over ‘Aiea (39-26) and aforementioned Leilehua (38-37). The 10th-ranked Rams got a last-second layup by James Herron to edge Leilehua, which fell out of the Top Ten.

Leilehua had a rough week, losing at home to Mililani in double overtime, 65-61, Tuesday. Then came the controversial loss at Radford. With those defeats, the Mules fell from No. 5 to 11th.

Mililani, Kahuku, Maui and Kealakehe moved up a spot thanks to Leilehua’s departure. Kamehameha-O’ahu posted solid wins over Mid-Pacific and Damien, yet dropped from fourth to No. 5.

Mililani, with wins over West contenders Leilehua and Pearl City, leaped two spots to No. 4.

Iolani, Punahou and Kalaheo remained locked in the top three positions. Iolani, 5-0 in Interscholastic League of Honolulu play and 19-2 overall, claimed all 24 first-place ballots. Punahou (18-3, 5-0 OIA East), which escaped with a 47-44 win over University Saturday, plays at Iolani Friday night.

Kalaheo (15-4, 5-0 OIA East) travels to Kaimuki today in a key battle.
