AIEA—No doubt the Lady Mustangs of Kalaheo played with valor and determination.
Sometimes, though, destiny has its way. Na Ali'i of 'Aiea were not to be denied Friday night, not through wind nor rain nor any other circumstance. 'Aiea, champion of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association West, advanced to the league semifinals with a 2-0 win over Kalaheo Friday night.
The score was in no way indicative of 'Aiea's control. Na Ali'i attempted 15 shots on goal in the first half alone, while Kalaheo managed just one.
Now Kailua has the task of slowing the bullet train that is 'Aiea girls' soccer.
Coincidentally, Kalaheo beat 'Aiea to win the OIA Division II softball championship just 24 hours earlier.
