HONOLULU—The calm before the storm can be utterly deafening.
Barely a ripple coursed through the HondaReport.com Girls’ Basketball Top Ten, released Sunday night. Konawaena, which routed Hilo, 81-28, Friday to open the Big Island Interscholastic Federation playoffs, remained No. 1.
Konawaena (24-2, 13-0 BIIF) collected 12 of 13 first-place ballots.
Kahuku (22-3, 11-1 Oahu Interscholastic Association) remained No. 2 after a 60-28 playoff win over Kapolei Friday. The Lady Raiders garnered the lone non-Konawaena first-place vote.
Punahou switched places with Iolani and regained the No. 3 spot. The Buff n’ Blue topped the Raiders, 40-34, to win the Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship Friday.
Kalaheo, Kamehameha-O’ahu, Kaiser and McKinley remained locked from the fifth to eighth positions. Maryknoll moved up to No. 9 despite a loss to Punahou.
Baldwin slipped a notch to No. 10 after losing to Lahainaluna in the Maui Interscholastic League playoffs. Lahainaluna also shares the 10 spot. The two teams meet for the MIL crown Friday at Lahaina.
