HONOLULU—Oceanic Time Warner Cable has been awarded the contract to produce and telecast the 2004 “June Jones Television Show,” University of Hawai‘i Athletics Director Herman Frazier announced today.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our football team to our fans,” Frazier said. “It serves as a vehicle to help promote the accomplishments of our student-athletes and reach out to UH supporters with news and interesting feature stories.”
Proposals for the show were requested from prospective bidders in May. The Athletics Department received proposals from two entities. The contract was awarded based on a six-point evaluation system, which included: advertising, financial benefits, format, frequency of shows, production schedule, and potential viewers.
“We formed a committee to evaluate the proposals,” Frazier said. “We feel the process was fair and equitable.”
According to Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the first of 14 shows will be telecast Sunday, Sept. 5, on OC16 at 7:30 p.m. and re-telecast at 10:30 p.m.
“Oceanic is looking forward to renewing its partnership with the University on OC16,” Nate Smith, president, said. “Our relationship with UH sports is very important to us.”
Russell Shimooka will host the show. The format will feature commentary and play break down by Coach Jones, a player appearance for “Warrior of the Week,” football alumni updates in “A Warrior to Remember,” and a behind the scenes look at Warrior football in “All-Access.”
This will be the second-straight season Oceanic Time Warner Cable will produce and telecast the June Jones TV Show.
