A bad day or two will happen in the span of a lifetime.
Heck, some of those days would qualify as a worst ever.
Nathan Ilaoa, uprooted nearly a dozen times during childhood, can’t think of a worst day. Even after serious injuries that prematurely hampered his first two seasons of college football, he racks his brain trying to think of anything that qualifies.
Resilience is a precious commodity in a society that breeds divorce lawyers, Internet spamming and pyramid schemes. Resilience, though, is not what brought Nate Ilaoa more than 4,000 miles from Virginia. And it’s not what stoked head coach June Jones’ attention.
