It is a hot summer afternoon, and all is well.
My nephew is at flag football practice, has a solid group of coaches, a nice bunch of teammates, and all is well.
My mom passed through outpatient bladder surgery this morning with flying colors, and hopefully her doctor has repaired the problem that has been relentless for many months. All is well.
The e-mail for my Star-Bulletin account has been re-established on my laptop, which means I can actually respond to readers once again, and all is well.
It is a hot summer afternoon. I got my mom to Queen's at 8 a.m. (8:10, actually) and she is chilling out in my sister's air-conditioned shop. I'm finally enjoying some peace, quiet and gentle breezes. I'm out of traffic, and all is well.
The stories have been written, the phone calls can cease for now, and I can hear birds chirping. Yup, all is well.
Is the day over? Not quite. After my nephew is done with practice, I'll make him dinner and then get a little more work done. My day will be over by 10 p.m., I'm guessing. All will be well.
Double the fun: The Pake in me can barely resist the urge to see the OIA White doubleheader scheduled at Kaiser tomorrow. Anuenue and Kaimuki, loaded with players from Palolo Valley, meet at 5 p.m. Kalani and Roosevelt follow at 7:30. I don't know when the OIA last had a doubleheader.
My fellow Pakes, get in line and enjoy the rare treat. That is, if you don't mind driving to Hawaii Kai and using up precious gasoline.
TV Time in Kahuku: The last time OC16 tried to televise a football game from Kahuku, floods swamped the Windward side, and the game was postponed. This time, good weather is in the forecast and OC16 can smile.
The trend of airing games from sites beyond Aloha Stadium and Mililani High School is a good one, but it's all dependent on infrastructure and cost. Here's to hoping for low costs and continued support by OC16.
