The league officially began soliciting franchises on Thursday.
Two days later, the slate is full at 12 teams and counting. How did it the league grow so quickly? Is it some form of Fantasy League Growth Hormone?
Teams as of Saturday are:
• The HK Bonecrushers
• Name TBD
• Crusader Power
• Rude Dogs
• dawgs
• Warriors
• Bay Area Berzerkers
• Ala Wai Foodlemeisters
• Parkpill
• Kailua Zebras
• M-Town Saints
• Imua2000
Consider it a marvel of modern technology. Some might call it spamming. I call it "mass e-mail." An invitation to various coaches and sports fans reached 684 individuals, I was told later by AOL. (Lesson to the average AOL user: Any e-mail sent to more than 30 people is considered spam, and your account will be suspended until you call AOL to resolve the issue.)
It was worth the trouble, actually. At this point, the league includes a baseball coach, two basketball coaches (one is an assistant), a referee and a bunch of sportswriters. The original max was set at 10 teams, then stretched to 12. With at least one more team interested in signing up, the max will be extended to 14.
Franchise biographies: Teams are submitting the Q & A sent out on Friday. New teams will receive the list on Sunday. The information, plus optional art (for a team logo or anything else) that is sent back to the league will be posted in the Newsletter.
