The draft is just two days away, but the HAPPY League is surging ahead with plans to establish a base of at least six teams by then.
After little more than a day, HondaReport.com's second league includes Kanaks-R-Us, Buff Strength and Ala Wai U-Drive Boat. Commissioner Paul Honda hopes to have six teams, with a maximum of 10.
"If we can get more momentum, I'll hold off the draft for a week," said Honda, who sold his interest in the Ala Wai Barracudas during the off-season. That team was purchased by Egolofo Foodlemeister IV and remains in the original HRC Ohana League with a new name, the Ala Wai Foodlemeisters.
Honda secured the rights an expansion franchise and the Ala Wai U-Drive Boat was born.
Kanaks-R-Us and Buff Strength are owned by individuals who already have franchises in the HRC Ohana League. Most fantasy leagues have 10 to 14 teams.
"Our draft is supposed to be on Sunday at noon, but I have no problem pushing it back one week. It's a long, long season, so I'd rather start it right than rush into it with less than six teams," Honda said.
