Here's the rest of the story that didn't fit in today's Honolulu Star-Bulletin. In case you missed it, Saint Louis rallied past Kamehameha 17-14 last night, ending the Warriors' title hopes.

Saint Louis' stellar defense came up with two turnovers early in the contest, but the offense did not capitalize.

Smith, a senior defensive end sacked Holt and forced a fumble that was recovered by teammate Micah Waiamau at the Kamehameha 36-yard line. The Crusaders went backwards, however, and was done after four plays.

A few minutes later, Smith recovered a fumble by Holt at the Kamehameha 42-yard line. Four plays later, Mamiya's fourth-down pass was intercepted by Brandon Hardin and returned 46 yards to the Saint Louis 36-yard line.

A personal foul by Saint Louis aided the Warriors, who got a key third-down pass from Hoke to Kaneakua Friel to keep the drive alive. Chun scored on a 2-yard run to the left, and the Warriors led 7-0 with 11:57 left in the first quarter.

Montez's first big gainer, a 23-yard run, sparked Kamehameha's next scoring drive. An acrobatic 33-yard catch by Ian Bernardino gave the Warriors first down at the Saint Louis 3-yard line. Chun scored on the next play, a 3-yard cutback run on the left, and Kamehameha led 14-0 with 6:59 to play in the first half.

Saint Louis finished with 41 total yards in the first half. Mamiya, who completed only one of his first eight pass attempts, caught fire in the second half. The Crusaders drove 76 yards in 11 plays, overcoming a first-and-40 situation with passes of 34 and 27 yards to Alcott.

Alcott's diving catch of a 7-yard lob to the far side of the end zone brought the Crusaders within 14-7 with 6:48 to go in the third quarter.

Saint Louis' defense stiffened and took command. The Crusaders were dynamic offensively, but touchdown runs by Wakinekona and Mamiya were called back because of penalties. They settled for a 25-yard field goal by Chun and cut Kamehameha's lead to 14-10 with 26 seconds left in the third quarter.
