Is it enough?

Have I done enough? What more can I give? The answers are clear: No, no and much, much more.

Watching the men of Knightsbridge on Independent Lens tonight, I was inspired like crazy by three guys, all retired, going all-out to serve humanity in the best way they know how: Hands on. It left me wondering, is it enough?

I'm not on some kind of trip to save the world. Lord knows it would take more than just one person to do that.

But I am intrigued by the fact that I have all this time (well, not a ton of free time, but look, it's almost midnight and I'm tapping away on a laptop, surfing the net for hours) ... and what freaking productive activity have I engaged in?

Absolutely nothing. Nothing against those of us who are engaged, even obsessed with our fantasy sports teams/athletes. If you hang out in a bar with friends at this hour, more power to you (and your designated driver). If you're sitting in Dole Cannery theater watching a great film, I envy you.

But there's more. I know there is. I think I know what that "more" is for me. I just need to execute it, bit by bit, step by step.

Don't you feel that way at times? Is there something or someone or some place that you feel compelled to help immensely? What would that be?

Tell and I just might write about it.
