Prep hoops galore

I didn't get my fill of basketball.

Nope, it wasn't fulfilling.

Normally, I see seven, eight, even 10 tournaments during girls basketball season. This year, it's different. Assigned to all kinds of coverage away from girls hoops, plus family commitments at night, I had to be content with seeing only three or four tournaments.

Talk about taking the steam out of my train. It wasn't all bad, though. I did get to see most of the teams in the Star-Bulletin Top 10.

Yesterday and today, we published our girls basketball previews of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu and Oahu Interscholastic Association (Red East, Red West and White Conferences). And yes, I try to talk with every coach of every team. Time was short, so I can't say that I tried doubly or triply (is this a word?) to connect with the 33 coaches whose teams were previewed.

The ILH preview ran in its entirety, but the OIA previews were shortened up significantly due to space limitations. You won't see 'The skinny' and 'X factor' in today's paper. You will see the OIA previews in their entirety if you go here, where I've posted the OIA pieces in full for your hoopaholic pleasure.

My next step is to get the ILH D-II preview done as soon as possible. In the meantime, we're working to get the All-State projects done, and the girls basketball regular season tips off tonight for both the ILH and OIA.

Fun times. So much to do, so little time.
