Classic Pitchers' Duel
Posted at 12:21 AM
This was worth seeing on TV, paying for at the turnstile, you name it. Randy Castillo and Dustin Anotlin hooked up in the best pitchers' duel I've seen in 17 years of covering high school baseball.

It was a great day for Dustin Antolin.
Not a good day. A great day. He pitched 8 and 1-3 innings of no-hit ball, struck out seven and walked none against one of the top teams in the state, Mililani.
He even hit 3-for-4. And yet, he didn't get the win. He had the misfortune of facing Randy Castillo, Aiea's power-throwing junior. Castillo threw a 10-inning shutout with 13 K's and only two walks.
After 126 pitches, his shoulder was achy, but Castillo was relatively fine. It was the performance of a lifetime. Will he recover soon? Time will tell.
Antolin left the game, won by Aiea, 1-0, in the bottom of the 10th on a single by Keenan Naeole, at the right time. His sharp slider had lost its edge, and his fastball wasn't popping as well. After 107 pitches, coach Ryan Kato made the right call. I actually felt that Aiea was in prime shape to win since reliever Joey Aquino was fresh and had a lot of heat on his fastball.
Castillo had to be tired, right? No. He got stronger in the final innings. Amazing.

A coach let a high-school pitcher throw 126 pitches?!!
That is lunacy.
