Musical chairs in baseball

Yep, last week's Top 10 in baseball was a tribute to the inventors of that smashing classroom game, Musical Chairs.

When the first poll was released, voters hadn't been aptly educated about Aiea's promise and potential. In other words, they didn't have access to vital information, like Aiea's nonconference record.
That's why, even with an 8-4 mark, most voters were clueless about Na Alii. Because they info sent to them along with their ballots didn't include Aiea's nice start before the OIA season, the Alii weren't in the poll.
Fast-forward several weeks, and Aiea zoomed to No. 3 in last week's Star-Bulletin Baseball Top 10. Fickle? Perhaps, but a lot of it has to do with information. As long as the voters have info, the poll will usually reflect well.
Then again, things can change rapidly in the world of prep baseball, especially when there are at least 20 quality teams out there. I'll say it again: this is a season when a 24-team state tourney would be highly entertaining.
Parity is nice if you're a fan. If you're a coach, it means a little more stress. Better to have some good assistants to lean on, all righty.
