I never met Paul Loo, but in the back of my mind, I had hoped to meet him one day.

Paul Loo passed away on Monday, just months after retiring from a magnificent career with Morgan Stanley.

He was with family and friends in Scotland when he suffered a mild heart attack before dying of natural causes.

He was a philanthropist to large scale, and a wealth of knowledge. Seventy-five years is a pretty long life, but I just wish I could've met the man. I only began to learn about him recently, and his approach to the market struck me profoundly.

He never shorted a stock. He bought the best companies and held them for the long term. Simple and successful.

He gave as much as he received. That's something I hope I can achieve before my time comes.
