Waahila Ridge fire (Fri 12:15 am)
Posted at 01:18 AM
Update, 12:15 a.m.
The fire turned into a rim with flames probably 25 to 50 feet high on the ridge. That wasn't too bad, but a leg of the flames began to head lower on the east side. Pretty spooky.
But around 12:10 a.m., that little leg was doused. I couldn't figure it out. Within a couple of minutes, though, with the help of my little binoculars, I noticed some huge sprays of water coming out of the darkness of that east-side. Could it be HFD hiked up that side and was blasting those flames away?
Looks like it from here. How they got the water there, I dunno. But it was damn impressive.
Still flames on the top of the ridge. Looks to be more under control now than ever.
