Star-Bulletin: Lund kicks 1 in for coach

One of the many reasons why I respect Darnell Arceneaux is his knowledge of sports. Football, of course, is where the field becomes his laboratory. His cerebral approach with schemes is hidden sometimes, but his overwhelming passion and commitment to ... perfection.

But all of these things are meaningless in the face of life and death. And when assistant coach Kaimi Tong passed away, the effects on Mililani's coaching staff and players were deep. As the wounds heal, the Trojans are remembering Tong by wearing a T-shirt with his photo at center under their uniforms, under their coach polos.

It's a subtle, but heartfelt way to remember a young man who left this earthly realm much, much too soon. It is also something that I would bet Coach Tong is enjoying, perched from his view above. Wins and losses come and go. The memory of Coach Tong?

Eternal.
