Kalei Kabalis, Moanalua
Chris Blake, Kamehameha coach: "Her dynamic play helped carry her team to the OIA championship and to a very good showing against the state's best teams. She improved on her consistency this year and it helped her team to states and their performance."
Jim Iams, Punahou coach: "She has all the skills. She had carried that team all the way around. In the right situation (at college), I'm not overly discouraged by her height. At the right school, she could have the biggest impact at outside hitter. She's too big of an arm not to play there."
Leinani Keanini, Iolani
Jenic Tumaneng, Iolani coach: "She worked very hard this year at being consistent. She had to gain that confidence within herself and she proved it. She came around very well in allowing me to coach her and be herself."
Iams: "I just enjoy watching her play. She seems to have fun, she's very competitive, takes responsibility when she makes a mistake and gives out praise when she makes a play. She gets the most out of what she has. A smart volleyball player."
Sydney Yogi, Punahou
Tumaneng: "Her confidence level, she looked very confident on the floor. Being part of the national team and playing at that level, that gives you a boost."
Iams: "She's ready to move on. For her to get better, she's gotta get to the next level where the game is quicker and more demanding."
Anuhea Keanini, Punahou
Blake: "She is a big hitter in a small package. Her attacking skills kept her team in many games and she made a good adjustment from last year's role as opposite."
Iams: "I think she's one who had to play out of position for us. She never complained about it, she's a fighter who gives it all she can every time. She enjoys the game of volleyball. With Anu, it was a fun opportunity to coach her."
Chanteal Satele, Word of Life
Iams: "A lot of kids who are asked to do too much, their game gets stretched. When she can focus on just what she has to do, she'll really have an even better college career."
Chelsea Hardin, Iolani
Blake: "A very athletic player. Her attacking skills have improved from last season and her block can change games."
Caitlin Andrade, Kamehameha
Tumaneng: "She's improved a lot, and that's a tribute to Fiona Nepo. (Andrade had) a lot of personal workouts with a former All-American."
Brennan Clark, University
Tumaneng: "She's something. When we played her, we knew she would be a go-to player. She's more of an all-around player. Passes well, defends well, blocks well. Her knowledge of the game, I think, is ahead of a lot of players. She jumps well. She was putting down balls from the back row. She hits smart."
Chris Blake, coach of the year
Iams: "I think it's easy to diminish what Chris does with all that talent, but sometimes what people don't recognize is to handle that kind of talent in a way that allows them to play to their strengths. Handling adversity is not always that easy. He did a really, really good job this year. Those girls played really well at the state tournament. You can't overlook the fact that he was the one pulling the trigger. He made changes and they all worked. He did a nice job with the chemistry of that team."
