Suns are in panic mode

I go offline for a few hours and WHAAMMO! Shaq? Suns? Haaaahhh??
I really hate to think that the Phoenix Suns gave up on Shawn Marion, a terrific defensive player who is durable and runs the break as well as anyone ... in favor of an old man who is injured most of the time and has no gear past 1 or 2.
How is Shaquille O'Neal supposed to fit in with the Suns? This is a deal that's almost as preposterous as Microsoft trying to buy Yahoo. At least Yahoo has formidable pieces that are universally loved and used. (I'm a goner for Yahoo fantasy football and baseball, as well as Yahoo Finance.)
Shaq? He's good in spots, but only when he's healthy. That's a 50-50 proposition. And when he does play, it's another 50-50 deal that he may or may not play well. Sale of orange paint in Phoenix will go through the roof thanks to Shaq's not-so-fluid free-throw stroke.
I love the guy as an entertainer, but $20 million per year for someone who may not play at all, while giving up Marion ... it makes no sense to me. If anything, the Suns should have dealt for Pau Gasol when they had the chance. If anything, this boneheaded move looks like a weak response to the Lakers' acquisition of Gasol.
Sad, sad, sad. Phoenix is one of my favorite teams to watch, but with this move, I wonder what the hell management is thinking. Not that the Miami Heat mind at all. They get two players in their prime (the other is Marcus Banks). It's a first step to the great reconstruction.
