Here's the rest of the story on the OIA semifinal between the Chargers and Knights.
Star-Bulletin: Yuh pushes Pearl City into final
With the night lights and heavy vog, picking up pop-ups was a problem for the Knights in the third and sixth innings.
The third-ranked Chargers broke a drought with a run in the third when Duane Kiyota socked an opposite-field double to left and scored when Kurt Poentis's sky-high pop to short right field was dropped by second baseman Joshua Serano.
That was all Yuh needed. He retired 10 of 11 Castle batters through the middle of the contest.
"We scored that run and that got my confidence up," he said.
In the fifth, Poentis's single to left brought home Pearl City's second run, and after Bryson Nakamura reached base on a walk, Namba blasted a 1-0 pitch over the left-field fence for a three-run homer.
For good measure, the Chargers tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Jared Nagai's pop-up to short right fell untouched. That allowed Ryan Acosta to score, and Bully Casarez came home moments later on a throwing error from left field for Pearl City's final run.
