This isn't a review. It's just a head's up to anybody who is

1. a current or former fan of Marvel Comics

2. looking for a reasonable, thrilling flick to take the kids to (without worrying about cussing, nudity, yadayada)

3. desperate for pure entertainment

I spent the 9 bucks tonight (Friday) after work, a rarity these days since I'm picky as hell and great movies in recent years are extremely hard to come by. But this was worth every penny, particularly with the superb sound system at Dole Cannery.

I hate to give out 4 stars for just about any movie ... but for me, this was a great escape, and any film that can take me out of the moment, make me forget what time of day it is, or what I was doing before I walked through the front door of the theater ... that's a great movie.

Review later. Maybe. For now, I'll say this: John Favreau retained the hard-hitting action feel of the comic book, but brought much more to the screen with great casting -- Jeff Bridges was utterly sensational as the (no spoiler here) -- and great effects. Iron Man wasn't a great comic book. But now it's a great movie. That's the magic of wondrous storytelling.
