Dogs + Chocolate = fatal
Posted at 3:47 PM
What do dogs and the cacao plant have to do with history?
I find it interesting, albeit spooky, that dogs can die when they eat chocolate, and more so when they consume cacao beans.
Theories and evidence show that the Mayans cultivated cacao for their precious chocolate, and that the plant originated in the Amazon.
Dog theorists point to China as the likely site of origin for the domestication of canines. Two continents so far apart. That may explain in part why and how dogs weren't able to develop any immunity to cacao.
