Cathedral Tour

They're not just tearing down the monuments of my youth in Honolulu. Across the nation, cathedrals are falling to the ground.

Boston Garden went down not so long ago. Yankee Stadium is up next. I always wanted to see a game in Boston Garden. Yankee Stadium? Not so much, but I'd like to go anyway. I hear the area that houses the monuments to former Yankee greats is a rush kind of thing. You barely have 10 minutes to look at all of it before they shoo you off.

But Wrigley Field, Camden Yards, the Ballpark in Arlington, Dodger Stadium ... they're all on my list of to-dos. Wrigley: history. Camden: ribs and architecture. Arlington: architecture. Dodger: history. Plus I want to find out if those Dodger Dogs are truly overrated.

I did get to watch the Islanders and the WFL's Hawaiians play in old Honolulu Stadium. My uncle even took us there for the final day, when fans got to walk in and say goodbye before the place was demolished. The old Termite Palace.

I'm still dreaming that Kamehameha Schools will grant Stadium Bowl-O-Drome a reprieve and use the retro facility as part of the architectural design when a new building goes up there on Isenberg Street, i.e. Camden Yards.

So much history here to literally build on, mesh the classic with the new. Should've been done with Varsity Theater. Should be considered for all of Old Honolulu.
