Mongol opens June 27 in Kahala

Yeah baby.

The Star-Bulletin reports that the Kahala 8 Theaters are stepping in to fill the void left when Varsity Theater was closed (and later demolished to smithereens).

Mongol is set to open at Kahala on June 27. I am marking my calendar!

As I've written before, my old pal JJ is a huge Genghis Khan fan. I mean, fervent and fierce in defense of Khan. Always was. The aspects of this -- old friend and retro topic (Ala Wai Soul), the history of the Mongols (A History of Migration) and now filmed with a different perspective and aesthetic (Film/Movie Reviews) -- makes this a very unique combination for me.

June 27 will be just another Friday for most of the world. For me, it'll be a conglomeration of past and present. Should probably celebrate it with lunch at a Mongolian barbeque restaurant.

Epilogue: I searched the net and can't find a Mongolian restaurant. However, the reviews are quite positive for the Mongolian Lamb Ribs at XO Seafood Restaurant. Might have to try that on Mongol Movie Day.
