How I'm voting in this week's Star-Bulletin Football Top 10.

1. Leilehua 2-0 (0-0 OIA Red West)
Last week: def. Iolani 33-14
Mules did nothing to change my view. Though they're loaded with new talent on both sides of the ball, they haven't missed a beat. To do this without the benefit of two-a-day practices (like private schools) in early-to-mid August is a serious accomplishment. Almost all of the state's public-school teams are still in catch-up mode. ILH teams had their camps and two- and three-a-days.

2. Punahou 2-0 (0-0 ILH)
Last week: def. Waianae 37-21
Buffanblu were quite impressive in their season debut. The offense, as expected, was humming. The possibilities of what they can do with the ball are endless. QB Cayman Shutter used a lot of targets. TE Kimo Makaula is a true X Factor (five catches, one TD), uncoverable for most safeties and nickel backs.

3. Kamehameha 2-0 (0-0 ILH)
Last week: won at Kapolei 26-18
Another feather in the cap for the Warriors, who scored all their points in the second half against a tough defense. Edmund Kamano's decision-making, accuracy and speed are almost unmatched.

4. Saint Louis 1-0 (0-0 ILH)
Last week: won at Mililani 48-20
No surprises from the Crusaders, who stuck with the Run & Shoot. I'm expecting Coach John Hao to unveil a multitude of formations later. Billy Stutzmann continues to draw coverage, and Lucas Gonsalves (eight receptions) continues to benefit.

5. Farrington 2-0 (1-0 OIA Red East)
Last week: won at Roosevelt 25-6
Govs are ahead of the curve. Defense is leading the way after allowing only 13 points in two games.

6. Kapolei 1-1 (0-0 OIA Red West)
Last week: lost to Kamehameha 26-18
No news yet on the knee injury suffered by LB Chad Lopati, a D-I talent with immense passion. The Hurricanes have plenty of talent and commitment. LG Stan Hasiak is one of the most highly-recruited players in the state. But without Lopati, the LB crew will be asked to do more.

7. Castle 2-0 (1-0 OIA Red East)
Last week: def. Kaimuki 19-14, Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium
Key win for the Knights, who always find a way to compete. LB Kawehi Sablan provided the clutch play.

8. Iolani 1-1 (0-0 ILH)
Last week: lost at Leilehua 33-14
Kela Marciel is better than ever, but they do need time to develop the young guns. Still a Top 10 team.

9. Kaimuki 1-1 (0-1 OIA Red East)
Last week: lost to Castle 19-14, Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium
Close loss stings, but the Bulldogs are still a Top 10 team.

10. Kauai 1-0 (0-0 KIF)
Last week: def. Hilo 58-0
Lopsided win doesn't prove a lot, but the Red Raiders are definitely loaded this fall.

On the cusp: Kahuku, Lahainaluna, Mililani, Waianae, Campbell, Konawaena, Kalaheo, Waipahu, Damien, Moanalua.
