Pretty cool!

The last time I was on Molokai, in 2001, there was talk in the community about starting up two, maybe three Pop Warner teams. It was a great idea. The island has a ton of raw talent. Big kids everywhere, but no football. In fact, kids who wanted to play high school football would move to Lahainaluna or elsewhere on Maui, stay with family and pursue their dream.

But the latest, according to the Maui News, is that Pop Warner football has sprouted on Lanai. They're starting with the young ones 8-11 years old. It's a good start and it's a great opportunity for the boys and girls who like football but had no outlet. Brad Sherman notes in his story that they even have an ex-UH player, George Ornellas, on the coaching staff.

Cool.
