HILO -- Fried rice special at Isles Diner (next to Suisan). Five bucks.
Bottled water (Ethos) at Starbucks. Two-fifty.
What else is there to do in Hilo on an early Saturday morning? There's hardly a car in sight, the air is fresh. It smells like fauna at the airport with all those native plants everywhere.

So what do these numbers tell us? Well, they don't tell us whether a quarterback is helping his receivers. They do tell us that certain players have better chemistry with their passers.
They don't tell us how efficient an offensive coordinator is with the timing of passing plays. They do say how much an offensive coordinator trusts one receiver compared to another.
They don't tell us if a quarterback had an off night and simply missed targets. They do tell us, when the reception-to-target ratio is near 100 percent, how glue-fingered a receiver is.
Case in point: Robby Toma. In two games, he was targeted 16 times by Cayman Shutter. Fifteen times, Toma made the catch for 237 yards and three touchdowns. That's incredibly impressive.
I purposely left drops out of the figures. No need for that unless you're a scout.
A player who had an interception (or several) in his stat line obviously drew plenty of attention from cornerbacks and safeties that day. In one case (name withheld), a go-to receiver was simply outmuscled on the end zone floor for the ball, and it became an INT.
I saw the Kahuku-Kamehameha game that started the season, but at that time, I didn't keep track of targets.
Receiving is just part of the story, so please don't take these numbers as gospel for all things to do with that particular game. It's just one layer of the story.
