Here's a Pupule view of this weekend's games.
Friday's games
BIIF
Hawaii Prep at Ka‘u: A lot of renewed pride for the Trojans, but HPA is still too polished and too huge. Pupule says: Ka Makani 32, Trojans 6.
Hilo at Keaau: Viks are on the rebound and learning under first-year coach Kalani Siliga. Cougars are roaring after a heartbreaking 17-16 loss at Honokaa. Pupule says: Keaau 27, Hilo 19.
ILH
Pac-Five vs. Iolani: This could be the longest game in ILH history. Both teams live to pass and would rather throw than eat dinner or run for two consecutive plays. Pupule says: Raiders 49, Wolfpack 33.
Saint Louis vs. Kamehameha: Warriors had two weeks to prepare. Crusaders are coming off a big win over Punahou, but had a short week to get ready for the Warriors. Kamehameha will offer much more variety defensively than Punahou did. Can Jeremy Higgins pick his spots against a quick Kamehameha defense? Edmund Kamano directs Kamehameha's offense with plenty of diversity, from speedy Ryan Ho to a plethora of precise route runners downfield. I smell trouble... Pupule says: Upset Special, Warriors 21, Crusaders 17.
MIL
St. Anthony vs. Lahainaluna: Lunas just too powerful for the hard-working skeleton crew of Trojans. Pupule says: Lunas call off the dogs by third quarter and win, 44-7.
OIA Red
Kaimuki at Roosevelt: A fight to the finish. Rough Riders are deeper, Bulldogs are stronger. Pupule says: Kaimuki finally wins a close one, 22-17.
Farrington at Kailua: Danger zone for the Govs against the winless, but tough Surfriders. Pupule says: Govs pull away late, 24-14.
Leilehua at Pearl City: No defensive coordinator enjoys drawing up the gameplan against the pass-happy Chargers. Pupule says: Mules win, 36-14.
Waipahu at Kapolei: Another huge test for the newly-promoted Marauders. Kapolei's talented posse of linebackers and linemen will severely test Waipahu's ground game. Pupule says: Hurricanes prevail, 31-15.
OIA White
Kaiser at Aiea: Toss-up game between the young Na Alii (both QBs are sophomores) and gritty Cougars. Pupule says: Aiea 19, Kaiser 16.
Kalani at Moanalua: Falcons are looking ahead (best sophs are on the JV). Pupule says: Moanalua 34, Kalani 3.
Saturday's games
BIIF
Kamehameha-Hawaii at Kohala: Tough road trip for the Warriors. Kohala has one of its best teams in recent years. Pupule says: Cowboys lasso Warriors 29-23.
Waiakea at Kealakehe: Warriors want to avenge last year's 50-13 loss at Kealakehe in the BIIF title game. Pupule says: Waveriders escape with a 28-27 win.
Honokaa at Konawaena: Could be the game of the week. Wildcats (5-0) are the hottest team in the BIIF, but lost two starters last week to injury. Pupule says: Konawaena rallies for a 15-13 win.
ILH
Damien vs. Word of Life: Firebrands have talent, but Damien has depth. Pupule says: Monarchs run away late for a 40-27 win.
Baldwin vs. King Kekaulike: Bears are putting the pieces together nicely, but it won't be easy against Na Alii. Pupule says: Baldwin 27, King K 15.
OIA Red
McKinley vs. Kahuku: Too much depth and muscle will take a toll on the Tigers. Pupule says: Kahuku 37, McKinley 20.
OIA White
Kalaheo at Radford: Mustangs aren't deep, but have a tough defense and always gameplan wisely. Rams have depth and talent, but QB Doug Brown could be hot or cold. Pupule says: Rams win another one at John Velasco Stadium. Radford 29, Kalaheo 25.
Anuenue at Campbell: Na Koa are tough, tough kids, but the Sabers are an OIA Red team at heart. Pupule says: Campbell 41, Anuenue 14.
