I think that was a line from "X-Men." Funny, but true. Funny because it's true.

Konawaena's football team knows what it is to be blessed with victory. They're 6-0 now with wins over three of the Big Island's four Division I teams. They've done it despite injuries and a lack of coverage from the local paper, which gives the nearby D-I team (Kealakehe) five times more coverage.

Yet, on Saturday, the Wildcats went to work on a restoration of a heiau at Kamakahonu Bay.

Nice work by the Wildcats. In a sense, the lack of football coverage there can work in their favor. As a former Big Island sportswriter, I can't think of a greater story this season in the BIIF.
