Can't help loving the Fins

I never get tired of those Dolphins-Patriots highlights.

It's Thursday and clips of Ronnie Brown running around end and up the middle of New England's badass defense continue to run on ESPN. I love it. With Ricky Williams split out wide, running in motion to the middle of the field and taking handoffs (or fakes) from Brown (who's in the shotgun), it is no-frills football with a high-school edge.

That's right, you know it. It's a high-school offense. Locally, the team that runs an offense most similar to it is Lahainaluna with its Modified Wing-T Jet attack. The only real difference is that the Lunas will line up with two backs instead of just one, and they'll usually go under center. But all the cuts and holes and angles and intentions are similar. Miami's was just that much more simple, and the fact that the Dolphins made it work for an entire game was stupendous.

No, it would not work for an entire season in the pros. But Brown ran for four touchdowns, sometimes untouched, and threw a pretty pass for another score.

What's next? The option? Miami is promising more wrinkles to come.

Goody.
