Preps and, of course, further undoing of the Phoenix Suns.
Amar'e Stoudamire is out eight weeks with a detached retina. Bad news for the Suns. Kind of derails their intention to run, run, run. What can they do? The trading deadline has passed. Wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't dumped Raja Bell and Boris Diaw. Helter-skelter management/ownership sets up a fall. Sad.
Farrington's resurrection after the loss to Roosevelt last week is proof that teams usually get better after a loss than a win. The Govs weren't perfect -- they didn't shoot well -- but they won by 11 and limited Mikela Thoemmes to just 11 points. When they play tomorrow, the chess match (they've played four times already) resumes with the OIA Red championship and a state-tournament first-round bye at stake.
Should be an awesome game.
Patrick Ward of Campbell dunked during warmups in a recent playoff game. Then he got into an altercation of sorts with another team's player. Each infraction drew a technical foul, which led to his ejection and a one-game suspension. Then, the Sabers lost to Kalaheo 72-65 last night. Kalaheo gets its share of breaks, and this was one that they're probably thankful for. As for Patrick, what can I say? Good kid, but everyone knows you don't tempt referees by dunking in pre-game. It's in the rule book. Fortunately, this isn't going to cost Campbell a state berth -- I think.
