iPad: Toy or Necessity?

Really.

I'm not one of those folks who have a TV in the bedroom. But if I had an iPad, I'd keep it there. Plug it in. Watch a DVD before bedtime. Or read a book. I'd spend more time resting, which is a good thing for someone who hardly sleeps these days. It's just not going to be as clunky as my laptop, which is a work instrument anyway.
By necessity, I don't mean an iPad will feed me. I do mean that it would make access to information and fun so much simpler. Is that too much? Should we all have constant internet and media (movies, music, books, etc.) access 24/7? I say yes. It would be mustard, ketchup and relish on the hot dog. Nothing wrong with the hot dog, but ...
I didn't think I'd get an iPad, not when it was officially introduced a few weeks ago by Apple. Now? Hard to resist, though I'll try and hold off for the 2.0 version.
