- Provo at Notre Dame: Loopy or prophetic?
11/24/08
In the final minute, the visiting Orange scored a touchdown to take the lead. NBC's sideline camera panned to the celebration near Syracuse's bench. Directly in front of the camera, a Syracuse player with his last name emblazoned: "PROVO".
- Step by step to Guge
11/24/08
Michael Wood's documentary (BBC) aired on PBS and caught my attention. Somehow, the sight of solitary people walking through deserts (and mountains) has always captured me (re: Kwai Chang Cain in Kung Fu, circa 1976?).

- Campbell Sabers, seeding and traveling
11/23/08
Anyone who watched Campbell during the regular season knew they would be a contender not just in D-II, but in D-I if allowed. Would the Sabers be in the state tourney at the D-I level? Maybe.
- Pupule Pigskin Picks, Week 15 (Nov. 21-22)
11/22/08
Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 A pupule look at tonight's state-tournament games....
- OKC Thunder: Obscure unis scream CBA
11/21/08
The team left and adopted new colors, a new generically sick nickname (Thunder) and wound up with this: a nice looking, yet amateurish uniform that screams Continental Basketball Association. Talk about vague. Thunder? Even Lightning might have been better, though it's taken by the NHL's Tampa Bay franchise.
- The Wrestler
11/21/08
Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 My old pal, Mr. Brown, has a lot of optimism about The Wrestler....
- Porter's shackles on Nash
11/21/08
Am I bitter? No. But it sure is perplexing to see someone junk the engine of a Ferrari in hopes that it functions better as a fancy shopping wagon.
- Pupule thoughts
11/20/08
Spend more time enjoying every last minute with your family and less time grumbling on sports talk radio or through e-mails to the paper about things you cannot control. Life's too short for manini stuff and you know it.
- Pupule Pigskin Picks, Week 14 (Nov. 14-15)
11/16/08
Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 Only one game this weekend, but oh boy, what a game it is....
- Will you stop driving your car?
11/16/08
Oh, rail can and will help -- The Bus rider in me knows this. But getting those steel chariots off the roads en masse between 3 and 6 p.m., 6 and 9 a.m. -- that will take real skill and persuasion. Who will see the sensibility behind the most basic math?
- North-South coming back to BIIF
11/12/08
Play your division twice. Fill in the rest of your schedule with exhibition games against the other division, as well as games against anyone else. With only 8 games that would count in the standings, there would still be time for both nonconference and playoff games.
- Crossover time of year
11/12/08
One day, though, I'll be blogging from a roadside soup spot in Laos or a tiny pizzaria in Sicily. It'll be just my luck, too, that by then every kill and every dig in the state will be posted online.
- Pupule Pigskin Picks, Week 13 (Nov. 7-8)
11/10/08
Can't help but think about Waianae's season. Ups. Downs. Heroic play. Disappointing defeats. Quite a memorable season. They've won some and lost some, but above all, the Seariders have done it Waianae style. Hard-nosed, smashmouth football ... with discipline. Paleolithic in age. Simplicity over style. As powerful as a George Foreman uppercut.

It floats, attacks, and if you strike it, it will release a second device that will survive your attack and continue to take aim on you, the prey.
- Mom spells it out, sort of
11/07/08
She began to sign a couple of letters. I keep thinking now that they were the letters 'd' and 't' and that she was trying to tell me something about tomorrow. But as soon as she started, she was gone.
- Fantasy Hoops: Keep Hope Alive 1
11/07/08
You would have kicked tail in this system of Mike D'Antoni's. Probably something like 19 points, 9 assist and 2 steals a game with 30 minutes per. But you have been cast aside and now reside on the far end of the pine.
