Challenge Volleyball Invitational

LIHUE, Kauai (July 24. 2004)—Kauai High School will host the Third Annual
Kauai Challenge Girls Volleyball Invitational, Aug. 12-14. The girls’ high
school varsity volleyball tournament will host 14 teams, eight more than last
year.
On Thursday and Friday, Aug. 12-13, all matches will be held at the Kauai High School gymnasium. On Saturday, Aug. 14, matches
will be held at the Kauai and Kapa’a High School gymnasiums.
Teams competing in
the Tournament include, Iowa, Lincoln City Tigers (Ore.), Rio Mesa (Calif.), Club Dublin (Calif.), Santa Barbara (Calif.), Roosevelt, Pearl
City, Leilehua, Maryknoll, Kamehameha-Maui, Waimea, Kapa’a and Kauai.
“The Tournament
will raise money for the volleyball program and provide high schools on Kauai with the opportunity to play quality
pre-season volleyball at home,” said Richard Roberts, Kauai High School Girl’s
Volleyball Head Coach and Tournament Director. “The community has been very
supportive and we are grateful to our sponsors Syngenta Seeds, Aston Hotels,
Bank of Hawaii Insurance, Raytheon Solipsys, Big
Save, Koa Trading, King Auto Center, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC), Ventures,
Kikiaola Land Company, Detor and Williams CPA, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, Kapaa High School and the many parents and volunteers”.

International Sports is also promoting the tournament via its website,
www.tisworld.com, and offering travel packages for mainland teams.
Shortly following the championship match, there will be an awards
banquet featuring key note speaker Tyler Durman. For the past 20 years, Durman
has been regarded as one of the countries most sought after motivational
speakers.
“Teams from Ohio, South
Carolina, Lake Tahoe and California have already begun inquiring about the
Fourth Annual Kauai Challenge so the entire staff is excited about the future
potential of the tournament,” said Roberts.
